When you live in a northern city, it is not cheap to stay warm and dry… or cool and dry! Usually, the best material for being comfortable is made of natural fibres… silk, cotton, wool, linen. Plastic materials such as polyester are usually hot in the summer and provide no insulation in the winter. Natural materials are, however, expensive. Where there is a will, there is a way, though. It is possible to live on a shoestring and have good clothes that were not made in a sweatshop or are hard on the planet.
